Ad Astra Aspera Edgar Mitchell, 1930-2016

Apollo 14 Lunar Module Pilot Edgar Mitchell, passed away yesterday, while in hospice care in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was 85. As the sixth man to walk on the moon, Mitchell served as LMP to commander Alan Shepherd, and Command Module Pilot Stu Roosa. He has the accolade of being the only man to throw a javlin on the moon, as well as seeking to conduct ESP experiments on the way home from the moon, something that caused quite a stir when he got home.

Mitchell went on to retire from NASA and founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences and wrote his memoir in 1996, called "The Way of the Explorer."

You can listen to my interview with Mitchell here.
